Q. What specifically does Rise Above Entertainment do? A. We coordinate and perform self-contained Extreme Sports (primarily BMX) entertainment events for a limitless number of different purposes. If you are affiliated with any type of event, organization, school, etc. that has a need for entertainment we can offer you an exciting, fresh option that is cost effective and customized to fit your needs.
Q. Does Rise Above Entertainment provide athletes in sports other than BMX? A. Yes! We work with skateboarders on a regular basis. We also work with Inline skaters and FMX riders as well. Through our experience, we have found BMX to be the biggest "bang" for the buck but there sometimes is a need for an athlete from another sport at our events and we have a list of talented athletes, from all action sports, to choose from. Our close proximity to Camp Woodward give us access to the best of the best across the action sports world.
Q. What does it cost to have the Rise Above Teams perform for me? A. Because we offer a wide array of event types, what we charge varies greatly from event to event. Our teams are growing rapidly and that is because we are competitive, not only in our athletics, but in our business as well and that includes pricing. We have entertainment packages affordable enough for a local elementary school to hire us comfortably and extravagant enough to entertain tens of thousands in stadium venues. Whatever your needs, give us a call and we would be happy to recommend an entertainment plan and go over pricing.
Q. What options do I have for payment? A. For payment we accept check or money order made payable to ‘Rise Above Entertainment’. We also accept all major credit and debit cards. We charge a small fee for payment by credit or debit card to cover our costs. In certain situations cash is accepted for payment too.
Q. - What is required by me if I book a Rise Above Entertainment event? A. - We are very easy to work with and almost entirely self contained. All we require is a performance area (see next question) and a place to plug in our sound system. A standard outlet works just fine.
Q. How big is a Rise Above Team’s performance area. A. A standard performance area is about 20’x100’unless otherwise specified. In most cases the ground has to be some sort of hard, relatively smooth and level surface. There are exceptions to this, but they are rare. We can, however, perform indoors. (see the next question) If this is a problem for your event, let us know and we can make recommendations and work something out that fits your needs.
Q. Can you perform indoors? A. Yes! We have a patent pending ramp design that allows our equipment to be very easily mobile. In fact, it can fit through a single door and be set up entirely in just a couple of minutes! If you are considering booking a school event please click the 'school events' link on the main page for more information. But to make a long story short we can easily perform inside and out. Please email or call if you have any more questions.
Q. What type of events can you perform at? A. We can perform at any type of event. In the past we have worked with everything from a Strawberry Festival in Harlingen, Texas to a shopping mall in San Francisco and everywhere in between. We perform for a limitless combination of events and get great reviews from all of them. Whatever your entertainment needs, please give us a call and find out how we can enhance your event!
Q. Are your teams covered by insurance? A. Yes! Although we have never, in our thousands of performances, ever had to use it, we are covered by a comprehensive liability insurance plan. We are happy to furnish our customers and potential customers with a copy of proof of this or add them to it as additionally insured if need be. In addition to this we take every necessary precaution to maintain safety to all those involved with our events.
Q. Do you damage the floors you perform on? A. Nope! This is probably the most commonly asked question and we can safely say we do not damage any floor we perform on. Our ramps are moved on Giant rubber wheels and we lay carpet beneath them when they are set up. We perform on hundreds and hundreds of gym floors annually, including college and NBA floors, without a problem. And, as stated above, we have liability insurance just in case of a mishap, though we have never had one!
Q. Where do your athletes come from? A. We work with athletes from all across the great states of America but a majority of our performers live right here with us at Woodward Camp, and this means we use the best of the best. If you are curious about what Camp Woodward is please refer to the next question.
Q. - You have mentioned Woodward Camp several times in your website, what is it? A. Woodward Camp is by far the World’s best action sports training facility. It is a 400 acre facility nestled in the heart of central Pennsylvania (they also have smaller locations in CA, CO, and WI) with 10+ skateparks that we ride year round, however it is only open to the public 12 weeks a year. This is the place where young and ambitious up and comers in action sports visit from all locations around the world in hopes of perfect their skills. Our company hires these young, incredibly talented riders and gives them a chance to earn a modest living while pursuing their future goals. During the summer months we ride there with campers from around the world and mentor them as well as help teach them the tricks of the trade regardless of their skill level. If you want to learn more or you are interested in being a camper at Woodward I encourage you to check out their website. www.woodwardcamp.com The place truly is heaven on earth!
Q. Do your events have a message for the kids? A. Yes! Our events do have a message for the kids. We, ourselves value the importance of hard work and being drug free and when it is appropriate (when our audience is mainly children) or whenever the client deems it necessary we incorporate that message throughout or performance. There is inherit value in children receiving these messages through and unconventional and positive medium and we make sure to make the most of that opportunity. As is blatantly obvious in our shows, we are professionals and what we do is dangerous and should not be attempted anywhere! We make sure to make mention of that as well.
Q. How do I book a Rise Above Team? A. It is simple. Just give us a call with your specific date(s) in mind and after a short conversation we can pencil you in for the date you are interested in so we don’t sell it to someone else. From there we will send you a contract with whatever event details and price we agreed on over the phone. We will send you this contract via email or fax, whichever works best for you. From there you send the contract back with whatever deposit was specified for your event and viola! But from the initial phone conversation on, your date(s) can be reserved if you wish.
Q. How much notice is needed to book the Rise Above Team? A. Very little! Since we have several teams we can accommodate almost any need. You are invited to book with us as far in advanced as you like but if you, for example, wanted us to perform for your event this coming weekend...we could make it happen. Our dates are sold on a first come first serve basis. The exception to this is weekdays during the nice weather months of the spring and fall. During these times we tend to sell out a couple of months in advanced. However, if your dates are flexible we can usually accommodate somehow. In any case, give us a ring and we can let you know availability.
Q. How do I contact the Rise Above BMX Team? A. You can contact us day and night via email. You can also contact us day (and sometimes night) via phone. Email

Q. - What makes Rise Above Entertainment “the leader in action sports entertainment”? A. There are several things that separate us from any and all competitors. Action sports, when harnessed and brought to a location as a clean cut package for the purpose of entertainment, provide an entertainment value rivaled by no other genre! We, specifically, are situated in the heart of the top action sports training facility in the world, giving us the best performers. Through years of experience with types of events that span the spectrum, we have come to understand what each specific type of client expects, demands, and deserves and structure our events and business based on those individual and specific needs. We have the most innovative equipment, best performers, years of experience and most importantly we have the most satisfied customers. These things are what makes us The Rise Above Team! Q. - What is Rise Above Entertainment's cancellation policy? A. For non-school fundraising related events it varies by event. For school fundraising events our cancellation/rescheduling policy is as follows: Our New School Fundraising Cancellation Policy Starting at the beginning of 2010 we are enforcing a new cancellation policy. More than 30 days before an event(s) you previously scheduled with us, we will contact you to verify your event(s). If at that time you agree to reserve the dates you are then responsible, in full or in part, for payment of the specified date regardless of rescheduling or cancelling on behalf of you or your schools. Fees for cancellation or rescheduling are as follows: If you or your school cancels or reschedules after we verify but more than 30 days before the event then you are responsible for payment of $550 per day cancelled OR rescheduled. If you or your school cancels or reschedules within 30 days of a performance then you are responsible for payment of $1,100 per day of events. If you or your schools reschedule the above fees are in addition to the normal per day rates that will then be applied to that date which was rescheduled to. In addition to taking physical risks our performers leave their homes for months at a time to make these BMX events possible. We always try to schedule events in a way that is both cost effective for you and provides a fair compensation to our riders. Last minute cancellations hurt our riders more than anyone and that is not fair to them. When events are cancelled last minute they end up sitting in a hotel, not getting paid. They don’t deserve this and that is the reason I am enforcing this cancellation policy starting this season. If you schedule an event within 30 days of its performance then you will be responsible for payment in full upon scheduling. I will gladly still hold dates for a reasonable amount of time while you confirm with your schools, but once you confirm the fees specified above will apply. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Please visit the 'Client List & Testimonials' page to read reviews from past clients.
